Palazzo Giusso

Hidden in one of the most fascinating and secluded corners of the Historic Centre, Largo San Giovanni Maggiore, stands a palace that is a true bridge between Naples and the world: Palazzo Giusso.

More than just a historic residence, this imposing building is the soul and the historic seat of the "L'Orientale" University, the institution that for centuries has made Naples a crossroads of cultures and knowledge.

Originating in the 16th century and magnificently redesigned in the 17th century by the noble d'Aquino family, the palace passed to the Dukes of Giusso in the 19th century, who gave it its current appearance before it became, in 1935, the "palace of knowledge" we know today.

To enter here means taking a leap not only in time, but also in space.

The Courtyard of Knowledge

Upon crossing the portal, one is greeted by the solemnity of the vast porticoed courtyard, an oasis of calm and architecture. It is here that the city's chatter fades, replaced by the multilingual buzz of students.

The gaze is immediately drawn to the magnificent monumental staircase that opens up at the far end: not a mere passageway, but an invitation to ascend, to discover. Imagine generations of young people, coming from every corner of the planet, climbing those same steps, bringing with them different languages, dreams, and cultures.

Palazzo Giusso is not just a masterpiece of noble architecture in the heart of Naples. It is a living symbol of the city's international vocation, a place where ancient history and the global future meet, study, and dialogue every single day.
